Mission Statement

The world faces a great danger: Religious fascism headquartered in Iran has threatened the security of the world by exporting its fundamentalist ideology and implementing worldwide terrorism. Iran’s extensive military interference in Iraq and Lebanon and intermeddling in the Middle East peace process and support for terrorist organizations has made Iran’s regime the biggest problem in the world.

Iran’s government is using diplomacy, bribery, terrorism, and carefully crafted propaganda to influence governments and attract more individuals and groups for its terrorist activities around the world. To defeat global terrorism and establish democracy in the Middle East one must first defeat the ruling regime and establish democracy in Iran. Finding a solution to this global threat has been the biggest difficulty for democratic governments for the last two decades. Policy makers have too often overlooked threats until confronted with a full-fledged crisis, but the world can no longer afford this approach. The spread of pro-Iranian fundamentalist regimes, backed by a nuclear-armed government in Tehran, would be a disaster.

Upon our investigation and examination of all the options available, we concluded that the only practical, possible and real solution is a solution known as the Third Option. The Third Option simply states: “Democratic change brought about by the Iranian people and the Iranian organized resistance”. This option is even more attractive when one recognizes that the only other options are either waging a war or appeasement and negotiating with the Iranian regime. Clearly, we cannot afford another war in the Middle East and, appeasing the mullahs would be like appeasing Hitler’s Nazi regime: It would only increase the Iranian regime’s never ending appetite for more territory and power and will provide them with enough time to acquire nuclear weapons.

Therefore, Solidarity for Democracy in Iran’s mission is to support and promote the Third Option. We believe we have a duty to inform people and our representatives about the real threats posed by the Iranian regime, and ask them to take action in support of this solution.
